Let's welcome back cilantro 😄🌿 — the heat is over. It can live happily indoors with parsley + chives.

A simple watering plan by plant type will make winter growing easier, because there is a mix of “drink like crazy” and “sip slowly” plants.

Here’s a way to categorize the collection into watering groups:

💦 Water Lovers (frequent, keep evenly moist)

Parsley

Chives

Cilantro (new roommate!)

Basil

Lettuce / leafy greens

👉 Plan: Water when the top ½ inch feels dry. Usually every 2–3 days indoors with lights + airflow.

This is a useful device from Ikea.

The pants that want the most water appear to enjoy self-serve. I'm concerned they might over do it... but so far... the parsley is obviously happy!

🌤 Moderate Drinkers (let surface dry, then water well)

Oregano

Thyme

Mint (if you keep some)

👉 Plan: Water when the top 1 inch is dry. About every 3–5 days.

☀️ Dry Lovers (minimal, careful watering)

Rosemary

Aloe

Any succulents or woody herbs

👉 Plan: Water only when the soil is dry 1–2 inches down. Often every 7–10 days indoors. Rosemary is sneaky — hates being soggy but also hates drying too much, so consistency is key.

📝 A Simple Routine

Group pots by category (so you don’t overwater rosemary while tending parsley).

Check moisture with a finger test before watering, not just on a schedule.

Use trays under everything — they let you water deeply, then empty excess after 15 minutes
